- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of coaching or playing experience at the high school or collegiate level, preferably with athletes 6-18 years old, demonstrating a strong understanding of baseball pitching or hitting techniques and mechanics.
- Knowledge of Youth Development: Understanding of child and adolescent development principles, with the ability to tailor coaching methods to different age groups and skill levels.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to effectively convey pitching or hitting techniques and strategies to young athletes in a clear and understandable manner.
- Player Safety: Commitment to the safety and well-being of young athletes, including knowledge of injury prevention techniques and protocols.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in teaching fundamental pitching or hitting skills such as grip variations, pitching mechanics, pitch selection, and strategy. In addition to developing a proper swing, bat placement and hitting progressions for all ages and skill sets.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt coaching strategies to accommodate varying learning styles and individual athlete needs.
- Teamwork: Willingness to collaborate with other coaches, parents, and staff members to support the overall development of the youth baseball program.
- Positive Role Model: Demonstrated ability to serve as a positive role model for young athletes, promoting sportsmanship, discipline, and respect both on and off the field.
- Certifications: Preferred by not required, certifications such as coaching accreditation from a recognized organization like the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) or equivalent.
- Background Check: Successful completion of a background check, including criminal history and reference verification, to ensure the safety and security of youth athletes under your supervision.
